During the pandemic and the lockdown there was a strong growth in pet purchases and adoptions. 3.5 million Italians bought a pet during or immediately after the first lockdown, while the world of adoptions grew by 15% with 8,100 dogs and 9,500 cats finding a home. The meeting organized in Milan by Royal Canin, in addition to launching Sensory, the new line of wet food designed to stimulate the senses of cats, offered the opportunity to deepen the changes that the pet sector has experienced in the last two years.

“THE new pet owners are mostly young and highly digitized people, often at the first experience with adopting a cat or dog – explains Elisabetta Bracci, Pet Owner Director of Royal Canin – as a company we believe it is very important to help these new owners in the management of their pets by providing them with important information and tools. We do this by activating our entire network of partners made up of veterinarians, breeders and shopkeepers. We try to provide them with all the most important tools to enable owners to make an informed and right choice for their pets “.

Digitization is therefore becoming increasingly important also in the world of pets: “Digital is a fundamental tool for owners – continues Elisabetta Bracci – and, through such an immediate tool as digital, we try to combine the simplicity of information and scientificity to give support “.
